This receiver incorporates 7 channels of built-in amplification, is rated to deliver wpc, and features extensive standard and high-definition Dolby and DTS audio decoding and processing options, including Dolby Atmos 5.

Also, both powered speaker outputs or preamp outputs provided for an additional wired Zone. The RX-A even provides 7. To make speaker setup easy, the receiver has a built-in test tone generator that works in conjunction with a provided microphone and internal firmware YPAO that determines the size, distance, and frequency profile for each speaker and determines optimum output levels for your room.

First off, it has unusual front panel styling. However, behind that stylish front, this receiver provides up to a seven channel speaker configuration, including the ability to connect two subwoofers via preamp outputs, Dolby Atmos 5. Another feature worth noting is the inclusion of both 5. Also, for added connection convenience, the speaker terminals are color coded by channel and widely spaced across the bottom of the rear panel.

Apple AirPlay compatibility is also provided, so you can stream music from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as well as from iTunes libraries.

Also, wireless Bluetooth capability is included for direct streaming from compatible portable devices. The above summary is just the tip of the iceberg. If you are looking for a home theater receiver that can accommodate all the newer immersive surround sound formats in use, and a lot more, then check out the Denon AVR-XH.

To start off, the AVR-XH has 9 amplified channels built-in with expansion to 11 channels via additional external amps. This provides a lot of speaker setup flexibility. Add 2 subwoofer outputs, and the latest surround sound decoding technology, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro 3D Audio via paid firmware updatemakes this receiver very tempting. What this means is that the AVR-XH has plenty of power for medium and large rooms with very low distortion levels.

Of course, setting up 9 or 11 channels worth of speakers can be quite intimidating, but the built-in Audyssey MultEQ XT32 automatic speaker setup system makes this task a lot easier by fine-tuning the response of your speakers in relation to room acoustics and seating position. Both p and 4K upscaling are provided if you need it. Audio and video are certainly not the whole story. The AVR-XH also provides extensive networking capabilities, which allows music streaming from compatible network-connected devices, such as PCs and media servers.

In addition, built-in ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity also provides access to internet-based streaming services, such as Pandora, Spotify, and vTuner.Deals Amazon deals Bargain threads Classified adverts.

Thread starter rodrigo Start date Feb 26, Tags denon hi-fi marantz onkyo. I'm aware that the last two have alexa connectivity and all have similar specs. But i'm unsecure which one would be the best for the long term. I enjoy using it for movies and gaming but also with hi-fi music.

Or should I look into something else in terms of of channels or brand? Thanks in advance for all of your comments and suggestions. Rambles Distinguished Member.

If your only using one set of stereo speakers, and you are looking for hi fi quality for music playback. Rambles said:. No point investing in an av receiver if your going to only use 2 channel stereo. The problem is that in the case I would want to use the speakers for gaming of movies, how would I connect them?

Two Kenwood surround speakers and 4 more onkyo that I don't use. And also a Yamaha subwoofer. Either Denon or Marantz would be a better option than an Onkyo receiver. Onkyo receivers are adversely prone to HDMI board failures. This system hasn't met with a favourable response from owners and is regarded as being "useless" by manny. The 2 models you mention aren't comparable and the Denon model is the better of the two.

Many regard Marantz receivers as being better in regards to musical performances, but they effectively use the exact same components as used onboard DEnon receivers apart from the inclusion of HDAM. It also has more power and includes multichannel pre outs also not included on the Marantz. Last edited: Feb 26, Some reviews tops them, reporting as being some very high quality receivers.

I am finding that this auto calibration technique is much worse than others on the market. While the others are not particularly great they are better than AccuEQ. Onkyo in the past also offered manual equalization for front, center, surrounds and subwoofer along with automatic setup.

These manual equalization adjustments are now gone. No other multi-channel receivers are so limited in their manual adjustability while having such a poor automatic system. I would avoid these products until Onkyo remedies the situation by at least putting the manual equalization back in their units. Siulgutierrez Novice Member.

Hi Guys. I have an Onkyo NR I love it but I want to get a newer av cause this one doesn't support 4k.Free Shipping on All Orders! Contact Account Shopping Cart. August in Electronics. Ok I am down to two receiver choices but not sure which one to pick. It will be pairing with Polk Audio TL speakers.

ROHfan Posts: 1, August Neither of those AVRs has pre-outs which will be necessary down the road, but I prefer Denon's sound over Onkyo's any day of the week. Paradoxex Posts: I think he's just looking to power the Polk speakers in his post, which don't need external amplification to perform well.

Shane, folks on this forum are going to suggest a higher end AVR in case you want to upgrade your speakers in the future - a better AVR can accommodate things like allowing for you to add an amp or more functionality that you don't need now, but may want in the future. Of the choices you laid out, I'd pick the Denon, which has a reputation for providing better functionality at lower price points. The Denon also offers Audyssey, which helps with improving the sound relative to your room.

Onkyo recently started using a different system which is not yet proven. The new room calibration, accueq, doesn't calibrate the front mains. Deal killer in my opinion. Yes all I will be doing is using these speakers and receiver to view movies and sports. I'm not an audiophile so expanding on what I already have down the road isnt going to happen. This is basically meant for a man cave setup to get setup and leave it so on Sundays and movie nights I can flick a switch and be ready to go and thats it.

I dont need every bell and whistle, just something quality for a decent price and it seems like the Denon and Onkyo I referenced are compatible and quality for the speakers I have to put out some good sound for movies and tv.

In that case, the Denon would be my preference also.Deals Amazon deals Bargain threads Classified adverts. Log in Register. Search titles only.

Thanks for any advice, opinions or suggestions. That, for me, would sway me towards the Denon. Onkyo doesn't have the best reputation for reliability either.

Thanks for your quick reply, any thoughts on those speakers? I'll not comment on the speakers as I've never heard them. They have though been well received. Both receivers will be more than capable of driving them and both will sit happily with speakers in a higher price range. Thanks again for your reply. Topmetom 2 Well-known Member. Try both in home? First Prev 2 of 42 Go to page. Hobbit Full Audioholic. I have an ancient, circa late 80's early 90's, Sony receiver which I use in my garage. It still performs flawless. Even with all the dust and sawdust, and anything else I sprayed over the years on it. I believe it still works, but has some issues. Some inputs don't work and the display is flaky. Finally gave up on it. Bookmark said:. AcuDefTechGuy said:. Hobbit said:. You mean from 3 whole years ago?

Onkyo txnr vs Denon avrxh Hide sidebar Show sidebar. JRED Audioholic. Hello, Trying to decide which AVR to go with. Had an Onkyo for 8 years before - HDMI board went but Onkyo support was awesome and fixed it outside of the warranty period and no issues since. I live in Canada and these AVRs go on sale and can be purchased for roughly the same price. Things I am considering: - needs to be able to drive 4 ohm speakers Denon is rated 6ohm but I understand that the Denons generally ok with 4 ohm, Onkyo specifically mentions 4 ohm on website - Planning on driving Monolith Ts, C, and something for side surrounds with dual subs -eventually looking to do 7.

Onkyo has DTS Play-fi or something Not sure, never used it Also, other receiver suggestions in this price range welcome.

Any input is appreciated. I am one of those types that over researches and analysis before pulling the trigger. Last edited: Sep 21, Thought you already bought one or am I getting my canucks confused? I can use my Denons to do the 2. Pure Direct with sub enabled Does anyone have any experience with either of these units or any suggestions of other options. Comparing AVRs is becoming a full time job for me It also doesn't help that I need a professional engineering degree in order to decided the differences in DACs, power supplies, etc.

Then on top of that, experience to know which stats are BS. JRED said:. Yes, I think I am leaning towards the Denon. But honestly I don't know. Am I in the right range here to match my short and long term plans, should I be looking to jump up to something like the AVR?
